Jan Bösing
Dr. jur.
Dr. Jan Bösing practices law in all areas of intellectual property, focusing on patent law. He represents clients in complex patent infringement proceedings and nullity proceedings before the German Federal Patent Court as well as opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trade Mark Office. His wealth of experience in cross-border patent litigation is especially valuable for his international clients. A particular focus of the IP work which Dr. Jan Bösing does is on standard-essential patents (SEPs). He advises clients on and represents clients in the enforcement of SEPs on the one hand and the defense of compulsory license under antitrust law (FRAND defense) against the assertion of SEPs on the other hand. In this context, he has been involved in multiple prominent SEP cases of the last few years on behalf of his clients and regularly supports clients out of court in negotiating licenses and evaluating portfolios.
Dr. Jan Bösing also advises his clients on IP transfer and license agreements as well as research and development projects in all technical fields. He has vast expert knowledge on intellectual property in the context of corporate transactions and restructuring, having been responsible for a plurality of due diligences in the area of IP.

As a former professional basketball player I’m convinced that the keys to success are hard work and teamplay. These qualities also shaped me off the court. I like being a leader and taking responsibility, but I also know that having a strong team around me is invaluable.
