Our doors are always open for discussions surrounding development opportunities at the firm, while we do also hold routine development meetings each fall.

Our associates are invited to a meeting with two partners they work closest with as well as the partner responsible for human resources in order to discuss their experiences in the current year and their further development at the firm. The meetings focus on measurable aspects of performance, which then forms the basis of discussions about bonus payments for the current year. For us, performance is not just about the number of hours worked, but rather an assessment of the quality and commitment exhibited beyond a specific case. Conducted with the future in mind, the meetings serve to recognize the individual potential of our associates and to support them in their further training and the next steps on their career path. The topics of the meeting are prepared in advance and follow a certain structure — time is set aside to discuss criticism, praise, and requests. Many changes that the firm has implemented have stemmed from a development meeting.

An annual meeting is also held with our patent law clerks and paralegals and our employees in the administrative departments. As part of the joint review of the current year, the mutual experiences of this period and what changes should be targeted for the coming year are discussed. Our employees often have the best insight into where the problems lie and how to remedy the situation — and we pay close attention to this. The meeting also includes an appraisal, touching on the various aspects of professional, organizational, and social skills. This discussion is therefore also the basis for considerations regarding future pay rises and proposals for end-of-year bonuses.

The determination and adjustment of our salaries are subject to clear remuneration structures that ensure that equivalent areas of responsibility and tasks are classified in the same salary range, meaning no differences between the genders are permitted.
