With his studies in computer science, Patrick Heckeler has solid expertise in the patentability of inventions in the field of computer technology. In addition to specializing in computer science, he also works on patents in the fields of mechanics, electrical engineering and telecommunications.

His main areas of practice as a patent engineer and trainee patent attorney include patent prosecution, opposition and appeal proceedings as well as infringement and nullity complaints.

Patrick Heckeler has excellent knowledge in the areas of computer architecture, operating systems, databases, embedded systems, multimedia technology, virtualization, and network technology. Having participated in the Safety-Critical Systems Research Group, he also has extensive knowledge of the development and verification of safety-critical systems in the automotive industry and in industrial automation.
