Quantum Technologies

Quantum technologies (of what is known as the “second quantum revolution”) are transitioning from foundational research into industrial reality. Quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing, and their enabling technologies are poised to transform industries ranging from pharmaceuticals and finance to cybersecurity and materials science. With this transition, intellectual property is not only a protective instrument, but also becomes a strategic asset for attracting investment, securing market access, strengthening collaborations, and achieving technological sovereignty.

Innovations in this field arise at the intersection of physics, hardware engineering, software, and system-level design. Whether drafting patent claims, assessing freedom to operate, developing IP strategies or enforcing and defending patents in litigation—each of these demands both deep technological understanding and precise command of patent law across jurisdictions.

At BARDEHLE PAGENBERG (member of QuIC, Europe’s largest quantum industry association), we combine expertise in quantum physics, electrical engineering, computer science, and patent law to support start-ups, SMEs, and large enterprises at the forefront of quantum research, from building and prosecuting patent portfolios to enforcing and defending quantum patents in litigation.

Our team of specialized patent attorneys is made up of PhD-level quantum physicists (experimental and theoretical).
