† Passed away on April 30, 2018

It is with deep sorrow that we mourn for the loss of our friend, colleague and Managing Partner, who was torn from our midst at just 55 years old after a serious illness. With him, our firm has lost an outstanding personality with great charisma. We share our grief with you in an online book of condolence.

Peter Hess’s main areas of practice involve patent infringement proceedings in a number of technical fields (particularly semiconductor technology, telecommunication technology, optoelectronic systems and computer-related inventions), complex patent prosecution cases, and opposition and patent nullity proceedings at all instances before the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trademark Office.

Peter Hess was recently part of a Bardehle Pagenberg team of patent attorneys and attorneys-at-law successfully defending a global DRAM manufacturer of semiconductor memory chips in a series of cases.

He has also handled important cases concerning hardware emulation systems for the verification of integrated circuits and diagnostic sensors for medical applications, as well as various infringement cases in the automotive supplier industry. Many of his cases involve managing parallel patent litigation across various European jurisdictions, with most of these requiring careful coordination with parallel litigation in the US.

Peter Hess has also particular experiences in the field of technology transfer and licensing. He is an active member in the Licensing Executives Society and served there as President of LES Germany from 2014 - 2015, and as President of LES International from 2017 - 2018.
