Patent Attorneys

Dr. Niels Malkomes’ practice focuses on patent litigation proceedings, nullity and opposition proceedings as well as on patent prosecution before the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trademark Office. He gained experience in various patent infringement and nullity proceedings and is currently working for a leading US software corporation in the smartphone and tablets sector. Another technical focus is the field of electrical and optical functional coatings, thin film deposition technology and nanotechnology where he has obtained several years of professional experience. Due to his wide educational technical background, he also works in a variety of other technical fields, in particular in the field of telecommunication as well as mechanical and electrical engineering.

Dr. Niels Malkomes is author and co-author of various international scientific publications. He also made several inventions that led to patent applications and patents.

Scientist and project manager at the Fraunhofer Institute of Surface Engineering and Thin Films in Braunschweig in the field of electrical and optical functional coatings, working in a variety of projects with partners from industry, in particular in the field of architectural glass coatings, transparent conductive electrodes, control and simulation of reactive sputtering processes

2002 - 2004

Project manager and team leader at a spin-off of the Bayer company in Cologne in the business field of nanotechnology based “self cleaning” optical coatings, biochips and thermolabels based on super-hydrophobic surfaces
