Prosecution and licensing of patents and utility models, including opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office and nullity proceedings before the German Federal Patent Court; SPC applications, patent infringement litigation, opinions on the validity and scope of patents, freedom-to-operate and due-diligence analysis; advice in license agreements and employee inventions law.

Thomas Friede specializes in life science and pharma, in particular in gene technology, biochemistry, molecular biology, gene therapy, cell biology, immunology, virology, pharmaceutical and organic chemistry, DNA arrays, medical devices and chemical engineering. In an exemplary case he represented a large manufacturer of medical devices in validity proceedings before the European Patent Office and the German Federal Patent Court, and participated in infringement proceedings before the Mannheim District Court. He further represents a producer of vaccines in an arbitration proceeding before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). He represents another manufacturer in nullity proceedings before the Federal Patent Court in a matter concerning an anti-body admitted as a medicinal product.
