Patent infringement and validity litigation in a number of technical fields, in particular computer-related inventions such as semiconductor technologies and opto-electronic systems; licensing; complex patent prosecution cases e.g. EPO opposition proceedings, opposition appeal proceedings and national revocation proceedings.
Recently, Peter Hess was lead counsel of a BARDEHLE PAGENBERG team of patent attorneys and attorneys-at-law defending a global DRAM manufacturer in German litigation proceedings and successfully invalidated the plaintiff´s European patents.
Further important cases have concerned hardware emulation systems for the design of semiconductor devices, diagnostic sensors for medical applications and automotive parts. A common characteristic of many cases is the managing of parallel patent litigations in a number of different European jurisdictions. Most of these cases required a careful coordination with parallel litigation in the US.
Since 2002 Peter Hess has been a member of the Board of the German Patent Bar Association. He is a Board Member of LES Germany.
As of January 2006, Peter Hess has been elected Managing Partner of the BARDEHLE PAGENBERG firm.
Peter Hess was rated, as one of five partners of Bardehle Pagenberg, in the 2007 edition of the "Guide to the World's Leading Patent Law Practioners", which is based on the results of an extensive market survey conducted by the magazine Managing Intellectual Property (MIP). No other firm in Germany received more individual nominations for inclusion in this guide.
