

Patent litigation in Germany and France, German and European patent opposition and appeal proceedings, patent invalidation proceedings, patent and utility model prosecution, in particular in the technical fields of software and computer-related inventions, electronics, information technology and telecommunications, semiconductor memories, digital image and audio processing, audio-video devices, smart cards and medical devices.
Johannes Lang is regularly involved as lead patent attorney in complex international patent litigation in Germany and Europe, particularly in cases requiring coordination with parallel US litigation or litigation in other European countries. Recent important cases have concerned patent litigation for major global companies in the fields of DRAM technology, MP3, GSM and 3G telecommunication standards and smart cards.
Being also a qualified French patent attorney, Johannes Lang is also experienced in French patent litigation procedure and in particular in French discovery proceedings ("saisie-contrefaçon").
Johannes Lang is presently the chairman of the software patent committee of the German Patent Bar Association. He is lecturing patent infringement law at the Kurt Härtel Institute of Hagen University and regularly lectures and publishes, in particular in the field of software patents. He is co-author of "Concise European Patent Law", a commentary on European intellectual property legislation.
In November 2005, Johannes Lang and his partner Reinhardt Schuster were honoured by the IP publisher Informa with the "IP Awards" in the category of "best achievement in patent litigation" for their work concerning a protracted multinational patent conflict relating to a technical standard for semiconductor technology.
