Patent infringement and validity litigation, including opposition and appeal proceedings at the European Patent Office as well as national revocation proceedings at the Federal Patent Court and the Federal Supreme Court. 

Johannes Heselberger's practice frequently involves working with teams of lawyers from other jurisdictions, particularly the United States, as well as international litigation cases with proceedings in various countries. His technical fields of expertise are medical devices, telecommunications and the automotive industry. In these fields, Johannes Heselberger attends to his client's patent prosecution activities, always aiming to generate strong patents which are "fit for litigation" in Europe, particularly in Germany. He also consistently advises his clients in questions of licensing patents under German and European law, including particularly the Group Exemption Regulation on Technology Transfer Agreements.

Johannes Heselberger recently successfully represented a US plaintiff in German patent infringement litigation against two major European pharmaceutical corporations. In addition, he represented the patentee in a worldwide licensing deal regarding energy saving states of computer monitors. Presently, Johannes Heselberger is representing the plaintiff in patent infringement litigation against a leading German telecommunication company concerning the latest technology in portable multifunctional communication devices.

Johannes Heselberger regularly lectures on topics in the field of patent infringement and licensing, patent prosecution strategy and patent valuation. He successfully set up a patent valuation project with a certified public accountant.
