
As a patent attorney, Sophie Ertl specializes in the technical fields of engineering, materials technology and medical technology. Due to her three years’ activity as development engineer at the BMW Group and her academic background, she has gained comprehensive experience in the automotive field and in power engineering.
Sophie Ertl’s main areas of activity lie in the field of patents and utility models and range from patent application procedures over opposition procedures, complaint procedures, appeal and nullity proceedings to the enforcement of protective rights by means of warning letters, preliminary injunction proceedings and patent infringement proceedings. She is especially experienced in practice-oriented advice to clients, the settlement of legal disputes out of court and the providing of expert opinions on the legal validity and scope of protection of patents and due-diligence analyses.
Among her clients, there are international producers of tires, sports equipment or defense technology as well as medical technology groups, an important automobile supplier and numerous German middle-sized enterprises.
