Reinhardt Schuster's practice focuses on patent litigation in all technical fields. He represents international and German corporate clients in large scale patent infringement und nullity cases before all German courts. He is also active and experienced in a wide range of other IP matters and litigation, particularly utility models and design protection, know-how, product imitation and unfair competition law, licensing and IP-related contracts.
As a lead counsel, Reinhardt Schuster managed numerous important multinational patent conflicts concerning technologies such as pharmaceuticals (e.g. omeprazole, paclitaxel, torasemide, alendronate), medical devices (e.g. vascular stents, catheters, pacemakers, medical implants), biotechnology (e.g. monoclonal antibodies, immunoassays, enzymes), electronics (e.g. GSM technology, mass spectrometry, flow meters, plasma sources), semiconductor technology (e.g. chip architectures, emulation technology, wafer etching and cleaning technology) and software-related inventions (e.g. network technology and network security).
In close and direct cooperation with the patent attorneys of the firm and the clients, Reinhardt Schuster has counselled clients through the parallel procedures of infringement and nullity litigation as well as complex opposition proceedings through all instances of the courts and patent offices. In important cases, the involvement of external scientific specialists and intensive tutorials such as mock trials with former judges are often an appreciated service option offered by Reinhardt Schuster and the team of BARDEHLE PAGENBERG.
Practicing and litigating for more than a decade in the firm, Reinhardt Schuster has acquired an international reputation as one of Germany's top patent litigators (cf. rankings and comments in the legal press, for example in Who's Who Legal 2007). In November 2005, Reinhardt Schuster and partner Johannes Lang were honoured by the IP publisher Informa (inter alia publisher of "Patent World") with the "IP Awards" in the category of "best achievement in patent litigation" for their work concerning a protracted multinational patent conflict relating to a technical standard of semiconductor technology.
Being a member of the editorial boards of the IP magazines "Managing Intellectual Property" and "Patent World", Reinhardt Schuster has published numerous articles on various IP topics. He has lectured repeatedly in Europe and the United States on subjects of his professional activity (see publications).
