Clemens Rübel’s practice centres on the enforcement of patents, utility models, designs and unfair competition matters before all relevant German courts.
He represents leading German and international corporations and SMEs in conjunction with the firm’s patent attorneys in technically and legally complex patent infringement cases, often on a multi-jurisdictional basis, covering a wide range of technological fields.
In the recent past he has represented and advised clients in par-ticular in the fields of machinery and plant engineering, medical devices, sports equipment, pharmaceuticals, electronics (including DVD and MP3 players), telecommunications, packaging and weigh-ing technology. In the fight against product piracy he frequently coordinates customs seizure of IP-infringing goods and obtains pre-liminary injunctions against the exhibition of infringing products at international trade fairs. One such action recently resulted in the spectacular closure of seven booths exhibiting patent-infringing products at the Interpack trade fair in Düsseldorf.
In matters of design law and unfair competition, Clemens Rübel’s clients in a number of court proceedings include leading Italian lamp designers, coffee roasters, a manufacturer of stereo speakers and an international producer of sports equipment.
Clemens Rübel has published a number of articles on patent and design law (see publications). He regularly speaks on selected patent law topics.
